The anime series I finished in a day

19 February 2014

What I’ve been up to lately…

I watched one of the best anime I’ve seen in a while! It was so intense, so compelling that I couldn’t stop watching it.

I finished the entire series – all 25 episodes of it – in a single day.

Which anime is it? Glad you asked.

Attack on Titan / 進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin

SnK

It was actually released last year, after the wild popularity of the manga. The anime also received overwhelming success and was one of the hottest titles of 2013.

It is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason.

The story centers around 3 children, whose lives are changed forever after the appearance of a Colossus Titan brings about the destruction of their home town and the death of their loved ones.

Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, they enlist in the Military and join the Scout Regiment—an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.

But I didn’t take to it at first because…

EH. This is the “titan” in the TITLE.

Like Naruto is the lead in “Naruto”, then titans are also a lead part in “Attack on Titan”, right???

Good lord, how can I stand to watch an anime that has such grotesque, hulking lumps as one of the main elements in the show?!?!

SO UGLY!!!

But my curiosity finally won out and I decided to check it out.

Best decision. Ever.

Each episode (apart from the first, I feel), was so packed with the progression of the storyline that I didn’t realize time passing at all. Everything is weaved together very tightly and almost every ending was a cliffhanger.

Many times when an episode ended, I was so surprised because it felt like it had only been 3 minutes, when it was in fact 20 minutes.

The production team also made sure to jam-pack every episode with emotions, and flooded your system with them. I don’t think I’ve cried so much in a single day.

The soundtrack was also epic. Man, it makes me feel like grabbing a sword and slashing some titans myself!!!

If you enjoy a deep and intriguing storyline, good character development, great art (titans notwithstanding), excellent soundtracks, then WATCH THIS.

I cannot recommend it enough!

Ending off with my 2 favorite characters:

levi-mikasa

I particularly like Levi, because he’s super OCD about cleanliness like me :D
